good afternoon my name is ***** ***** I will assist
what are the high and low pressure readings when the ac is running??
how much did you add??
Roy
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
55 psi with compressor off and just over 25 psi with compressor on. I did not add any freon.

I need the readings both high side and low side while running??? are you using a real set of gauges or just one of the charging gauges which are not accurate.
Roy
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Just a charging gauge
Expert:  roybelding replied 1 year ago.
you need to get a set of gauges to measure the exact pressures. too much or too little of freon will cause the ac not to work. you can rent a set at a parts store.

What pressures would I be looking for?
Expert:  roybelding replied 1 year ago.
high side should be around 2 times the outside temp and low side no lower than 22 lbs

Put a gauge on and added 16oz of R134. With engine off pressure is L -67, H- 67. With engine on and compressor on L - 105-108, High 100, with compressor off Low - 92, High 80. Compressor is not cycling on and off as often.

Also sight gauge has a lot of air bubbles in it.
Expert:  roybelding replied 1 year ago.
low side is way too high.
I would start by removing all freon, evacuating the system of all moisture and adding the exact amount of freon to start.
why did you add 16 oz of freon???
Roy
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I add 4oz left in a can. Then we started a new can but the compressor kept going on and off rapidly and the pressures would not go up where we needed them, so I put in the additional 12 oz. and the compressor started working better, but the pressures were crazy and there was air bubbles in the site glass.

you need to start from scratch. you have too much freon in the system.
