Customer Question

i have a 91 mazda b2600 i just built the engine and before it had good oil pressure. now when it warms up the oil light starts flickering and thin gets stronger longer it idles a 750 rpm. if i idle it up to 1000 rpm light goes off. i built engin cause it turned balencer barring in old block. but used old pump and face plate could this be the relife valve sticking? and im geting oil on cylinders 123 2 is the worst it dont smoke til you let out gas tnd let motor back drag when slowing down then when gas mashed agin it puffs out blue smoke. i had valve job done wnd when i put it to gether i timed it wrong. 180 out on cam and it bent 2 intake and 2 exsaust valves. tor it down pulled all valves out and checked them and replaced bad valves. could the smoke be from valve seals or oil rings? i did not oil valves when i put new valves in

Name is XXXXX XXXXX i will assist you the best i can, please Only accept if you are happy with my answer.

This looks like the main bearing has to much play did you plastic gauge them before you replaced the bearings

Did you replace the rings and check the ring gap in the cylinder bore, if this is to wide then you will oil like you are now ,

Bent the valve ? you have to replace the valve guides if you bend valves on this engine,

Valve stem seals should always be replace when the cylinder head is removed
to save you a lot of bother after installment.

Need further assistance then please get back to me.

Mind regards Greg

Hi .

OK if the crank was minced then you had it repaired at the engine machine shop .

So now you will need undersized bearings, as the play on the bearings is going to be to big , did you check this with plastic gauge.

Burning oil on acceleration is from piston ring gap being to wide
and if you burn oil on deceleration then this will be your valve stem seals
and first thing when starting after a long wait period it smokes points to the valve stem seals.

Piston ring gap check .

Was this checked ,don't just rely on the machine shop .
this you have to check to save you a possible new engine strip .

is there any way to adjust the oil pressure by the regulator valve or the control valve outside the front cover?

Hi.

No not much you can do here but pressure should be 16 to 30 psi at idle
and 44 to 58 psi at 3000rpm.

Do this check with a mechanical test gauge you never know the sender unit may be bad?
