SELF - DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS PCM or TCM (depending on model) monitors transaxle operation and contains a self -diagnostic system which stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if an electronic control system failure or component malfunction exists. If a problem exists in any of the solenoids or speed sensors and DTC is set, PCM or TCM will deliver a signal to blink the HOLD or O/D OFF (as equipped) indicator light on instrument panel to warn the driver. DTCs may be set if a failure exists and can be retrieved for transaxle diagnosis.
Using HOLD or O/D OFF Indicator Light (1996 MX- 3, MX- 6 & 626 Models) 1. Raise hood and access Data Link Connector (DLC) on left side of engine compartment. See Fig. 9 . 2. Connect jumper wire between TAT and GND terminals on DLC connector. See Fig. 9 . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If DTC exists, HOLD or O/D OFF indicator light will flash every 4 seconds. Long (1.2 second duration) flash indicates first digit and short (.4 second duration) flash indicates second digit. 3. If more than one DTC exists, next code will be displayed after pause of 4 seconds. Lowest number code will be displayed first. DTCs will be repeated. Once DTC is obtained, determine probable cause and symptom. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION TABLE (1995 MX-3, MX- 6 & 626) . For trouble shooting of DTCs, see DIAGNOSTIC TESTS . Turn ignition off and remove jumper wire.
