Hi. again:

You roll two fair dice, a white one and a red one.

a. Find P(5 on the white and an odd number on the red die).

b. Find P(odd number on the white die and 5 or 6 on the red die).

Answers:

a) "5 on the white dice" and "odd number on the red die" are independent events

then: Find P(5 on the white and an odd number on the red die)=

P(5 on the white)P(odd number on the red)=(1/6)(1/2)=1/12

b) "odd number on the white" and "5 or 6 on the red die" are independent events

then: Find P(odd number on the white and 5 or 6 on the red die)=

P(odd number on the white)P(5 or 6 on the red)=(1/2)(1/3)=1/6
