I have a Simrad AP50 Autopilot but cannot remove the Control

Customer Question

I have a Simrad AP50 Autopilot but cannot remove the Control unit inactive/disengaged sign from the display. I have a display on the bridge and one on the flybridge. I have tried to push the STBY button twice quickly but it does not remove it.
Could you please help?

Hello, my name is***** will assist you.

Is your question about both control heads not being able to engage the AP?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Hi Charles, yes I have it on both units. I have tried turning them off and pushing the on button twice which would normally sort it out. I have tried doing this on each unit and in a different order but no joy. It has happened before, a long time ago and I just can't remember how I rectified the situation.

Go into the Installation Menu, preform a Master Reset. This will erase all of the saved tracks and waypoints that you may have in the AP.

Tried reset and nothing has changed. Will try and attach a pic of the unit.

Double check all of your wiring and power connections. Make sure that none of the wires are kinked or have cuts in them.

All good with the power and cables. Will need to get a Simrad engineer in to sort this out!
