How hard is it to change the control box and shift cables on

Customer Question

how hard is it to change the control box and shift cables on my 2000 bayliner with 125 hp 2+2 mercury outboard? Also do you have a site and model number for me to order it?

Hi there,

This shouldn't be too hard to swap out - you will need to check the part number on your existing cable.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

JUST WANT TO KEEP YOU UPDATED. I HAD THE OUTBOARD COVER OFF AND HAD MY SON MOVE THE THROTTLE BACK AND FORTH. IT SEEMS THAT THE TRACK THAT THE REVERSE RUNS ON MAY BE CLOGGED WITH DEBRIS. I WILL TRY TOMORROW TO SEE IF I CAN CLEAN IT OUT. ANYTHING I SHOULD WATCH OUT FOR? I WAS GOING TO TAKE THE NUT OFF THE CABLE INSIDE THE ENGINE TO SEE IF THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO GET TO THE CHANNEL. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
