My satellite compass was inadvertently turned off while underway

Customer Question

My satellite compass was inadvertently turned off while underway and I now have an error message that says "heading data missing! Press menu button". I re-booted the system and now have heading data but cannot get rid of the error message. Also, the screen keeps oscillating in a rotational direction every 2-3 seconds (approximately 10 degrees. How do I fix this?

Hello. My name is***** can help you with your question. You can do a master reset of the unit.
A USB keyboard is needed to perform a Master Reset on the MFDBB
Note: The USB Keyboard needs to repeat the key command when the corresponding
key is held. Some keyboards (such as wireless keyboard) will not be able to reset the MFDBB
1) Disconnect any network device (only connect one MCU001 Keyboard controller)
2) If the MFDBB is on, Power it OFF by pressing the “Power” key of the MCU001
keyboard for more than 5 sec.
3) Make sure the USB keyboard is correctly plugged into one of the USB ports of
the MFDBB
4) Turn ON the MDDBB. As soon as the last screen of the following sequence
appears (NavNet3D logo on a blue and white cloud background), push and hold
the ESC key until the MFDBB restarts automatically.
5) When the MFDBB restarts, you can release the ESC key. After approximately 1-
2 minutes the MFDBB will power OFF completely
6) Re-connect the network and NMEA devices and power ON the MFDBB again.
The Installation Wizard will start with the default factory settings.
Please let me know if you still have questions.

Thanks very much. Problem is I don't have a usb keyboard. Any other alternative to me going out and getting one?

That's understandable as it's not a common accessory because it's needed so infrequently. Unfortunately though, that is what you'll need to do this. There is not a different way to get into this. I suspect it's done this way so that there's no way to get into it accidentally. Any old USB keyboard should do though. So you should be able to pick one up for under $20 somewhere. Are you certain you don't have one connected to a computer somewhere?
