I have raymarine 530c chart plotter which is showing NO FIX in the top left corner. Is this an ariel fault or something else?

Well, what it means is it doesn't have a fix on any object within range. You would have to put the cursor on a ship on the screen and press "find ship" then it would show the type of fix it had.

You are talking satellite linking.
No fix simply means that the antenna cannot lock on to the satellites. This could be because of a faulty antenna, or something is blocking the antenna, or the satellites are simply in a poor area for reception.
Is the hdop number high? If it is, then this could simply be poor horizontal dilution of position keeping the signal from locking on.
If the hdop number isn't very high you can try re-starting the gps. This will cause the unit to try to re establish with the satellites.
