Customer Question

I am replacing a LMS332 and a global map 7300chd with a HDS7 and structure scan lss1
When starting to install I plugged in the existing transducer and power cable. They seem to work just fine. It would be much easier to just use the existing cables if they are compatable Are they?

The structure scan box has a transducer and 2 cables one with yellow ends and what looks like an additional power cable. There are 4 wires on the power cable and I think you are to use just 2 They are blue black red and yellow Which 2 go to the pos and neg on the battery? I have seen info that you should not use the starting battery direct wired to the unit. I have had it wired that way until now but it would not be hard to use a separate power supply

Do you have any suggestions as to setting up the system to work properly?

Hello. You should be fine with your power cable, but the structure scan requires a different type of transducer - if yours works then it is working just as a "standard" sounder and not as structgure scan. You should go with the transducer provided. Hooking directly to the battery should be OK - that unit doesn't draw that much power that you would compromise your ability to start. But, make sure you have an appropriately rated fuse in the supply line - if you use your existing power it is probably already fused.

There is a long transducer included with the structure scan I assume I need both transducers installed or do I just need the long (new ) one?

What wires do I use to power the structure scan box?
