I have an old Autohelm 4000 system. The driver system seems to work fine. It can turn the boat, but doesn't hold the heading. Any idea on how to fix or upgrade this?
Already Tried: Tried using the unit the came with the boat. The drive is definitely turning the boat, but it doesn't hold a heading. I don't want to spend money replacing the drive if it's still useable/compatible in an upgrade or with a new control system.

I am somewhat new to sailing, and I am not sure of the version that I have - if it's the ST4000 or the old old version. However, I do know that it's a wheel autopilot, and it seems to spin the wheel just fine - it just doesn't hold a heading.
