This morning my phone, iPHONE 5C is telling me it cant be

This morning my phone , iPHONE 5C is telling me it cant be activated because the activation server can't be reached?
JA: What OS X (Operating System, e.g. Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, etc.) or iOS are you runninng?
Customer: Not sure I know that.
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Not Lately , it has been trying to get me to.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: None it just came up this morning saying hello on front screen, when I put in my passcode it came up with this issue.
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: NO
