As I'm getting on in years, I find this weird by writing

As I'm getting on in years, I find this weird by writing what problem I have rather than speaking and working through things. However when I contacted your company the other day, it was because the iPad I had deleted all my emails from, now won't send any emails. Luckily I have another iPad but wonder why the other one has stopped working.
JA: Just to clarify, what email service provider are you using?
Customer: My ignorance ...... not sure what that means!
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: No
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Went to settings, into Mail, contacts and compared with other iPad. There were differences but as not sure what to do, did nothing!
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Don't think so

Hi there and welcome

On the problem iPad can you please hold the home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until you see the apple logo then release.

Let the iPad restart and tell me if it now sends emails please.
