Customer Question

Hi, I'm trying to transfer a slideshow from my computer to my Apple TV device
JA: Just to clarify, what's the make and model of your machine, and what operating system are you running?
Customer: I Mac Running OSXYosemite version 10.10.5
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Just a couple of days ago
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Turned everything off and back on again. Unplugged the router twice. I get a message that says the "music" is on the TV, but no photos
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No I think that's it. I tried this once before, doing all the same things and eventually on about the 3rd try the photos showed up. Have no clue what made it work then and not now.

It can be switched back on from iTunes. With iTunes open got to File > Home sharing and make sure Home Sharing is on using the same apple id on your mac and apple TV.

From the same Home Sharing menu in iTunes select > Choose Photos To share With Apple TV. Check the box to Share photos from the photos app and then select if you want to share all or only some of your albums to apple TV.

and using the SAME apple ID on both the Apple TV, as you at on the Mac?.....yes?

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 22 days ago.

you have to login on the Apple TV, using the SAME iCloud Account that you are using on the Mac.

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 22 days ago.

If you've chosen not to use iCloud Photo Library on your Apple TV, you can still access iCloud's My Photo Stream feature, which lets you view the last 1000 images you took on (or uploaded to) your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This feature can be used in tandem with iCloud Photo Sharing, or by itself; it disappears if you enable iCloud Photo Library.

Not using ICloud for anything
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 22 days ago.

Unlike Apple's other devices, your Apple TV can't download images from the web or Messages to add to your Photos library — it relies solely on iCloud's photo sharing options to present your images. As such, you'll need to log in to iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC to make that happen, then turn on one of iCloud's photo sharing options.

Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Ok trying that
Customer: replied 22 days ago.
Where are iCloud photo sharing options?
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 22 days ago.

Launch the Photos app on your Mac.

On the Photo App, in the upper left hand side, click on Photos, (a menu will open and drop down) then click on Preferences menu.

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 22 days ago.

When you click on the Preferences.....a window will open.

at the upper left you will see 2 tabs.......General and iCloud. Click on iCloud.

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 22 days ago.

Once you click on iClound (upper left) now look in the options and Check "iCloud Photo Library." This will begin uploading any and all images you have stored in the Photos app to iCloud.

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 22 days ago.

Once this happens.....your Apple TV will be able to View them.

So long as the Apple TV is also using the SAME icloud account.
