I have apple ipad mini, in error I erased all content and settings including my wedding anniversary pictures.
JA: What OS X (Operating System, e.g. Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, etc.) or iOS are you runninng?
Customer: i have not clue, not to bright when it comes to computers
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: not sure, to frustrated.
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?

Previously, were you able to download any apps? This would help determine if you have an Apple account. If yes, the same email address used would most likely be the same user name required by the iCloud.
