Customer Question

Simply put, OSX keeps changing wifi networks on its own. I am trying to figure out how to prevent it from randomly switching networks.
JA: Can you describe your network setup (devices and cables used)?
Customer: Hotel WIFI.
JA: What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: Wifi switched to a nearby hotel
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
JA: Anything else you want the network expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Also, forget this network does not work either on OSX it appears

I have to check out of the hotel now so, I will check back later on this issue. Macbook Pro, 2015 model, always has Wifi issues and, dropping wifi, or, switching networks since day one. Forgetting networks never worked either. Like, my WiFi Hotspot for instance, it will drop the connection often and try switching over to another network that was used in the past.

Go to System Preferences / Network make sure Ask to Join new networks is checked then click on Advanced and remove any networks from the list you do not want to use any more. When you are back online I can check your system by remote if you wish and I have other things you should do too. Let me know

You can also remove any entries for old wifi networks from Keychain. You can do the below:

Open Keychain

Search for the older Wifi names

Right click and delete the entries

Hope it helps.
