my ipad suddenly said it needs to be activated.
JA: What OS X (Operating System, e.g. Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, etc.) or iOS are you runninng?
Customer: i don't know. It's several years old.
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: No. I got the message to do it, but hadn't done it yet
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: Nothing. I onlysee an activation lock screen wanting my apple id and password. And I don't remember for sure what my id is.
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I was using the ipad and it was working fine, and it suddenly said I needed to activate it.

I did that. I have two apple IDs. I got into both accounts. I changed the password ***** both of them. My iPad won't accept either of them.

I was using the iPad when this happened. Everything was fine, and suddenly the screen went black with the apple icon, and then it wanted me to activated it.

OK plug it in to the computer it is synced with and open iTunes on the computer. Choose the device in iTunes then choose Summary, then click on Restore
