JA: What OS X (Operating System, e.g. Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, etc.) or iOS are you runninng?
Customer: Apple iPad
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: No
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: All I have done is turn on and off. I was able to send myself an email. It showed up briefly but went back to locked up screen.
JA: Anything else you want the Mac expert to know before I connect you?

Can you please hold the home and power buttons on the iPad for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo, then release.

Let the iPad restart and tell me if it is now operating correctly.
