Hi there and welcome

Can you please go to settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings.

Once done, connect to your wifi network again and tell me if it still does this please

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have already done that twice and it is still searching
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Is it doing it for wifi or the mobile network?

And please tell me all steps you have done to try to resolve this

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Mobile network. It will connect to wifi. I have take the SIM card out and restarted.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Reset the network settings several times
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, hold the home and power buttons for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo, then release.

Let the phone restart and tell me if it now connects please.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh sorry I forgot to tell you that was the first thing that I did
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok.. how long have you had the problem?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
just started lastnight
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, its possible there is an outage in your neighborhood.

Who is your provider?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
us cellular
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, its most likely then an outage in your area

Call them on 1(###) ###-####/p>

And asked them for an outage report.

Tell me if your area is affected please

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
there is not an outage. there are four other family members and their phones are working normal
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, then we will need to reset the phone. This will remove all data and return the phone to new, so backup any data from the phone you need to keep first as this will remove all data.

Then go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase all content and reset settings.

Let this complete, then setup the phone like when you first received it and tell me if it now connects please.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
will backing up the phone do anything to the other phones on the account?if not, how do I back it up?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

You mean you have multiple iPhones on the same Apple ID?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
all of the family members
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, its not best to have it all one one account....

But use iTunes on your computer.

So connect the iPhone to the computer

Open itunes, go to Device, Backup and you can backup your phone there.

Then you can do the reset.

I can also do these steps for you, and have made a request via Additional Services. This is optional, and if you choose to do this, I can, with your permission, remote into your computer while you watch and do all these steps (and deal with any problems that arise during them) for you. Or if you do not choose to take this service, we can continue here. This is no problem at all. Just let me know please.

Else let me know the results please

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Within iTunes, but itunes manages this

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
but where in itunes is the backup stored?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

why? Its not important for this

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it is if i am restoring the phone after resetting isn't it?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

No, as you do that in itunes

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i just reset it and i came back on and still searching
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
am i resetting all settings?
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

first, have you made the backup?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I did the device backup
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

ok, then

go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase all content and reset settings.

Let this complete, then setup the phone like when you first received it and tell me if it now connects please.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i did that and it is still searching
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

So you had to setup the phone again like when you first received it, it connected to wifi but would not connect to the mobile network correct?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
correct
Expert:  Richard replied 1 year ago.

Thanks

It is the GSM Antenna that has faulted, this now confirms it, all other causes have been ruled out

I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the phone to have it replaced. It will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, and the replacement will be done at no cost to you.

I am really sorry about this, and if you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

And if you can take a second to rate my service by clicking one of the stars at the top of the page, then submit, that would be greatly appreciated.
