Customer Question

I can do a google search. But when I click on any of the links that result from the search, I get a gray screen that tells me "safari can't open the page "www.cnn.com" because Safari can't find the server. "

Hello and thank you for choosing JUSTANSWER.com

.

What about other websites?

Do they Also NOT work?

MSN.com

.

And you DO NOT have to put the www in front of the webpage.......just put the CNN.COM

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Wait, your not putting in the address, your just clicking on links......so.....what if you just put in the address, instead of clicking on the link. Does it still NOT work?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It doesn't work that way either.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Refresh doesn't work either. I've tried multiple websites, entering the addresses multiple ways.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

But a google search works?

.

I woudl say your internet is down.....but.....do you have any other internet devices you can use to see if your internet is actually working?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
If I couldn't access the Internet at all, why would a Google search produce a result at all? My phone is on Wifi and working fine. My internet is not down.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Yeah, thats what iim trying to figure out.....google searches CAN BE CACHED on your machine though, so thats not unrealistic actually.

.

YOur phone......and your computer are BOTH on WiFi?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
My IPAD IS accessing the Internet just fine, but I can't sent emails. They stick in the outbox.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Ah Ha.....Yeah somethign is fishy with your internet Dianne.

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

What internet servcei do you use?

.

And when did this issue start....just today?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No weeks ago and hours on the phone with Apple tech support, plus a factory reset has not solved the issue."Something is fishy with your internet" is not the kind of insight I need. The problem is with the laptop re Internet access. Something is blocked. I emptied all of the search caches during the last trouble shoot.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It's not a Comcast problem.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

So, you did a factory reset on the Mac, and the problem persists?

Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

And your Ipad doesnt SEND emails, but surfs the net fine.......THIS ALL MAKES NO SENSE!

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

See, the Ipad and the mac are different computers, yet they BOTH exhibit internet connection problems.

So, you tell me where you would look?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Correct, I'm giving you one more minute to provide some meaningful help. Then I'll sign off and not pay anything.
Expert:  Quiksilver07070 replied 1 year ago.

Nah, im out .......good luck......i dont work well with ULTIMATUMS.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Cool. I don't work well with ineptitude.

I would try changing to a different DNS server in your router and be sure there is no filtering or blocking turned on in your router.
