IPad 2 went into disabled mode unknown reason. Traveling.

Customer Question

Hello! iPad 2 went into disabled mode for an unknown reason. Traveling. How do I get to a screen where I can enter the passcode to unlock it?

I am Vinod. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue.

Sorry to hear about your issue :(

Unfortunately, the only way to get out of disabled mode is to restore the ipad to factory settings. If you have a backup either in icloud or itunes, we can retrieve the data after the restore.

Open itunes in the computer and connect the ipad to the computer. Now, on the ipad, press and hold the power button and the home button together until you see an apple logo. The very moment you see the apple, let go off the power button but keep on holding the home button for another 10-15 sec. Your computer should now give a message that it has detected an ipad in recovery mode and needs to be restored.

Restore the ipad now. After restoring, choose the latest backup. Let me know if you find any difficulty.

Thank You

Thanks, Vinod!I need to know how to keep this from happening again since it happened without any provocation - it was not password ***** The iPad had been sitting for sometime untouched. When I went to unlock it by pressing the home button, I saw the "disabled" note on the screen.

The ipad goes into disabled mode only if the wrong passcode is entered too many times. It may have happened inadvertently, but theoretically there is no other way it can go into disabled mode. Let's see if it happens again without entering the wrong password ***** if it does, probably it is a software issue and you may need someone to physically look into it (an Apple store for instance).

If we are done, I would appreciate if you could rate my service.

Wish you a great new year!

Thank You
