My old macbook stopped turning on... the battery is charged but when I press the button, no sign of life. What should I do?

Hi there,

Try powering on the MacBook whilst it is connected to the wall power supply.

If that doesn't work, let me know if:

  • You can hear a startup chime.
  • You can hear fan or drive noise.
  • Pressing the Caps Lock key on the keyboard causes it to light.

No chime, no fan noise.
Keyboard caps does not light up

Ok, in that case you are looking at a motherboard fault.

If the MacBook is more than a few years old then it is likely beyond economical repair.
