If you open the new "Photos" app it should transfer all your photos if you want to continue to use iPhoto you have to get

the last version (9.6.1) which is available.

Open the App Store
Go to the “Purchases” tab of the Mac App Store and locate “iPhoto”
Click on “Install” next to iPhoto, this will download and install the newest version which is compatible with OS X 10.10.3+

Let me know please.

Hello there! You will always have access to your photos through your photo library file

Go to pictures/photos folder then right click on the iphoto library file and select show package contents. Then navigate to originals or modified.
