I have an iMac 9,1. 2Gb Memory, a WDC 320 GB Hard Disk.

Customer Question

I have an iMac 9,1. 2Gb Memory, a WDC 320 GB Hard Disk. System software isMac OS 10.6.8(10K549). My hard disk now uses about 90 GB.
I would like to know if there is a newer operating system that would allow me to update some of the Applications, like Safari, which can't be further updated with the present OS.
If so, what does it cost? Also how much more memory can i install(it's either 2 2GHz or 2 4GHz memory chips)?
Thanks *****

Hi,

I'm sorry about the issue. Can you please click on the Apple logo / menu, then click on About this Mac, then tell me the Processor and Memory there. Then click on "More Info", then click on Hardware on the left, then tell me the Serial Number on the right.

- You can click on the Apple logo / menu, then click on Mac App Store, then check if you can update to the latest Mac operating system Yosemite (10.10) there. And/or see at

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-yosemite/id915041082?mt=12

- If you only need to update your internet browser application, then I suggest to download and install the Google Chrome browser application at the website below and use it instead of using Safari. Downloading / installing a new operating system, if your computer is compatible with it, takes time, and there are a lot of changes. Also, Chrome is faster and more reliable than Safari:

- You can check at the Crucial.com website below to see if your computer is able to upgrade more RAM memory:

Please reply at the box below to continue. Thank you.
