Customer Question

My remote will not work this morning. (It has worked in the past).
I have a Mac Book Pro. I run pararells on it. I tried my presentation in both Keynote and PowerPoint and changed the settings in my laser (near battery).
Battery is good. It turns off and on ok.
I feel like a setting is wrong on my computer is that possible?

Ye in Parallels you have to go to Configure / Options / Advanced and check Enable Apple Remote

Expert:  Mike replied 1 year ago.
On the Mac go to System Preferences / Security / Privacy / Advanced make sure Disable remote is not checked
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it's not an apple remote. It's a Targus Laser. There is a command on it to adjust for either a Mac or PC.My ADVANCE option on MAC system preferences is grayed out.

Expert:  Mike replied 1 year ago.

Apple logo to About this Mac. Try this:

Pairing your remote with your Mac:

  1. Log in on your Mac as an Admin user.
  2. Get very close to your Mac (about 3 or 4 inches away).
  3. Point the remote at the infrared sensor on the front of your Mac.
  4. Press and hold the Menu and Next/Fast-forward buttons simultaneously on the remote for 5 seconds.
  5. Your Apple Remote is now paired with your computer. You should see a chain-link style lock appear in the center of your screen for a moment.

rm ~/Library/Preferences/systempreferences.plist
