I tried to update my old ipad and got an error that this couldn't be done. Now the ipad doesn't work, it had many pictures on it how can I retrieve?
I have not tried to execute restore? Will this loose the pictures/photos?

Hello there! My name is***** and I will be assisting you today. Your pictures are more then likely saved to icloud or itunes. We can check itunes by doing the following.
open itunes
then click iTunes Preferences > Devices. You should see the name of your device with the date and time that iTunes created the backup.
if you do proceed with the following
Plug your device into your computer with a USB cable.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.
After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.
