I tried to update to maverick osx and now I get a white screen on boot. No icons appear.
Hello! My name isXXXXX will work diligently to provide accurate advice and information.

Do you know which version of OS X you had installed prior to the attempted upgrade to Mavericks?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi john,

Thank you for the help!

I did have it upgraded to 10.6 snow Leopold I beleave.

Thanks, Steve.

Restart the Mac.

As soon as you hear the start up chime, press and hold the OPTION key on the keyboard.

It should load a menu indicating the bootable volumes in your MacBook, can you tell me what it lists, if any?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Osx installer. I have a mouse now to :)

So you see "OS X Installer" and that's it?

Do you have any disc in the drive?

Also, were you trying to upgrade to Mavericks via a download from the Mac App Store?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No disc in the drive.

I downloaded mavericks from the mac app store and everything loaded up fine. Then it went to restart and it would not get past the white screen.

Should I click on the osx installer?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

The installer is the only option on the screen

Okay, you should not normally see the screen but go ahead and select it and hopefully it will get the installer back on track.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

I get install osx.

To repair your disk using disk utility, restore your computer from a time machine backup, or preform other task using utilities, choose an option from the utilities menu.

I have two options, one: is an arow facing backwards and two: is continue.

What should I pick.

Why did this happen? Your best guess?

Does the screen look like this?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Sent a picture to the email I've been getting links to this page from.

It does not look like that. It's all text with only two clickable options

Okay, it may take a while to get that image... Go ahead and click "Continue".

It appears that the Mavericks Installer was not able to set the boot partition properly before it restarted your Mac.

Let's see if it will continue normally.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Ok, I continued and it had me choose my hard drive to install on.

Now it's installing. Eta 40min.

Will you still be around then?

Yes, I should be here for another 90-120 mins at least.
