So. I clicked on Verify Disk on the right and it was ok. I then clicked on Repair Permissions. My computer has now restarted and there are two Outlook icons and both of them are completely empty.
? At least before, I had all of my information, folders, calendars, contacts, etc up until 2 weeks ago and today. I was only missing from 10/17 to 10/30 -- what should I do now?

When I quit Outlook, one of the icons disappeared. There is now only one in the dock. It is the original Outlook and the one I use.
I rebuilt the database from 10/17/13 successfully. I don't have any of my emails from 10/18 to today, is there a way to retrieve that information?
The only one I have now is in the Microsoft Office folder in my Applications

All updates were installed correctly
I think what happened was/is as follows:
Upon opening my computer after shutting down today, Outlook did not open correctly and displayed an error message, prompting me to select an identity to reopen. There were several identities to choose from, and so I let it select the default identity.
When Outlook opened again, it displayed emails and all of my information from 10/17 and prior to, but nothing in the time frame of 10/18 to today.
I need to retrieve the missing information during this time frame of two weeks.
Does this make a little more sense?
Good news Mike - all sorted. I did exactly what you have written above and selected the Main Identity copy and it was what I was looking for. I must have selected the incorrect identity before. :( Oh well.
