no... it happened right after I rebooted, after the 7 hours of "restart" after the software update

the "forced quit" finder windows are still there
and the beach ball appears
Type: sudo killall Finder Dock
After you type that, please update with the results.
Are there any external drives attached?
Please remove the external drives
Now in terminal type the command below:/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -rfv -all user, system, local
What did it say on the terminal after you typed that command?
Can you now restart the system and try to launch the finder again

there still is a beach ball
do i force quit and start finder again?
ok so finder is no longer running but the window is still there

Can you create a new account then use that account to login to Mac and try running the Finder

After the OnyX has been downloaded, run it.
Utility to repair/optimize Mac
After downloading it, Run it.
Click the Maintenance Tab on top.
Then select Rebuild Tab.
Place a check on LaunchServices.
Click on Execute.
