Also, can you tell me how you back up currently? is it with iTunes or is it via iCloud?

i am not really sure I think I cloud. I am just learning how to use this

No worries, Christine. I'll try to guide you through this..

Let's make sure you are safely backed up first.

tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup
Make sure "iCloud Backup" is ON

Then, back up manually by choosing "Back Up Now" from that same screen.

Once the back up is completed, you can update to iOS 7.

Tap Settings > General > Software Update and it should offer the update to install.

Once it begins it will guide you through the rest of the prcedure.

Unless your battery is fully charged, you should plug the iPad directly into a power outlet for the update.
