How can I reset my IPOD passcode without restoring the unit ?

Thanks for asking your question, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I'll be glad to assist you.

Unfortunately that is not possible that would defeat the purpose of the passcode.

I can provide instructions on how to reset if you would like to proceed.

I am trying to reset the passcode without deleting the data

That will be impossible. What type of iPod is it a Touch?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Do you backup the iTouch to iCloud?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I do not believe she did....

How about to a PC? Is the iPod backed up to any PC?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Well, we have itunes account which has all the music but not the pictures. she had about 400 pics on the ipod.

OK, I understand your concern to try and preserve the pictures. But unless you either backup to iCloud or to a PC. There is no way of doing so, by doing a backup you can reset and then just restore and have everything back w/o the passcode.

Apple has backup options for this specific reason. Removing the passcode is not possible because that would be against purpose of it. So Apple only allows you to reset.

I really hate to be the bear of bad news but a reset is your only option.
