I am trying to install a program that I have a site license

This answer was rated:

I am trying to install a program that I have a site license for on one of my computers. It is a Mac 10.7.5. I had a few problems. First, when I try to change a hosts file it says that it is locked. How do I unlock the hosts file? It says I can only duplicate but on another computer I was able to edit the hosts file fine (that was a 10.5). Thank you.

I am Pete, and I'll be happy to assist with your question today.

Apple have prevented users from unlocking the hosts file on later versions of Mac OS.

However, you can get around this and change the hosts file by using Terminal.
