welcome to justanswer, My name isXXXXX and i will do my best to help you on your issue
Can you please further clarify what you are trying to do.
your are using gmail from browser?
ok the scenario is as follows. you accessed gmail through safari and tried to send a large attachment within your email
what was the size of the file?
then next it kept looping and uploading the file endlessly, right?
and then did you terminate safari?
44meg. yes it was looping and I took gmail off line and deleted stored files.
so you removed the file from your harddrive, right?
what happened next?
No, only stored files in gmail/hard drive cache
ok got you. so what is the problem you are facing now. are you getting any errors on gmail?
Are you attempting to send it again and it fails?
The problem with gmail attachments is that you can send messages up to 25 megabytes (MB) in size
Sending large files could be accomplished using google drive
gmail is off line. Looping stopped. need to go to Terminal.app and remove file from cache folder
on the terminal type the following: open $TMPDIR../C/
a folder will open in the Finder showing a number of cache folders for different applications
Are you accessing your gmail account from Mail application?
I mean apple Mail?
No ISP is Time Warner Cable. I typed info. and terminal says file dos not exist
I didn't mean the isp, i mean you use apple mail application to access your gmail?
or do you open safari and type www.gmail.com to access your email?
You said you disable gmail? how did you do that?
Just took gmail off line from gmail menu.
please follow those steps carefully:
Did you delete the Recovered Messages folder?
ok delete it first
how do I do that?
ok please first download this app to show hidden files
If I right click folder I non't get that option
As the cache folder is hidden we will need this tool in order to be able to find it and delete it
download and install the application in the link above.
tell me when you are done
where you able to download it?
no. Where do I paste http: ?
just open a new window on safari and paste the link
you will be taken to a website, where you can see a download button to the right
click on the download button and you will be able to download the file. then ctrl click to install it
ok. I down loaded
now install it
then after its opened, you will be able to see the finder icon at the top
check this screen, you should be seeing a similar one: http://www.wikisend.com/download/418848/0Finder.png
now you need to check the box next to "show hidden and system files"
I don't know if it is installed
did you click on the downloaded file
you should be able to see it among your programs.its called tinker tool
or you can type it in the search
ok got it
now when you open it. you should be seeing the finder icon at the topleft
if it is selected you need to check the first box next to show hidden and system files
then at the bottom right, click on the button reading "relaunch finder"
ok done that and have relaunched finder
now we need to do the following
Go to ~/Library/Mail/IMAP-<username> @ domain.tld @ imap . domain .tld/.OfflineCache
the username and domain you will find them with your email info
where is library found?
open form the apple logo and then type library in the search
where you able to find it
no to much open. if I could get to finder I could get library
why aren't you able to get to finder?
ok I'm in llibrary
ok now click on mail
then you should be seeing some folder named IMAP-<username> @ domain.tld @ imap . domain .tld/.OfflineCache
where username is XXXXX XXXXX and domain is gmail
when you open this folder, you should be able to see the folder .offlineCache
open it and delete all the files inside
yes but offline cache is shaded
yes that's because its a hidden folder
that's why we downloaded the program tinker tool in order to be able to see it
no open this folder and delete all the data within
There are a hell of a lot of files
select them all and delete them
tell me when done
Moving to trash?
There is one that keeps coming back. .ds-store
you mean cannot be deleted?
ok no problem this is a file that is created by the finder in each directory
no you are good to go
its an 8 kb document
its a regular file that is created by finder in each folder on mac
Are we finished?
now quit the mail application and reopen it
then enable gmail again
So far so good.
now don't attempt to send any emails more than 25 mb as this is the maximum limit in gmail
New mail loaded and no recovered mess activity
