I have a Mac Book Pro running MAC OS X 10.7.5. FaceTime, Photostream

Resolved Question:

I have a Mac Book Pro running MAC OS X 10.7.5. FaceTime, Photostream and connecting to iCloud have stopped working. A dialogue box keeps popping up telling me there is a problem with my gmail address and directing me to Preferences. I enter my Apple ID/password XXXXX it fails to connect, advising "unable to sign in because of a problem communicating with iCloud. Try again later" This situation has been going on for some weeks.

I deleted photostream and start again. I reset my password, but no change.

From the posts on line it seems this problem is not unique, but as yet I have failed to find a fix

Photostream on my iPhone 3GS is still working ok.

Are you using wireless or wired connection for internet ? Can't you have problem with browsers on connecting ? Only these apps have the issue ? Please try these basic troubleshooting steps and let me know the reult.

Dear Jins, I am a Madam not a Sir - please call me Hilary.


 


It is only the mentioned apps that have stopped working.


 


My internet connection is wireless. I have Parallels desk top loaded on the computer as well, so effectively I have a MAC and a Windows machine operating side by side. This set up pre-dated the recent glitch with iCloud/Facetime/photostream.


 


Safari web browsing, gmail, Google Chrome web browsing, Google Talk, Sype, email via Microsoft Outlook all working fine.

Sorry Mam, we didn't get any info about the customer at first. That is why I used the common salutation. Now, regarding your issue please ensure all applications are closed and not running then open the folder /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ Then find and delete the files NetworkInterfaces.plist and com.apple.network.identification.plist Now, restart the system. Check and let me know the result.

Note: To open the Library folder do the following.

  1. In the Finder, choose Go > Go To Folder.
  2. In the Go To Folder dialog, type ~/Library
  3. Click Go.
