My IPod touch just stopped working about six months ago and none of the buttons work and i plugged it in but nothing happens. Do they just die after a while?

Please hold the Power and Home buttons together (Home is the button on the front, with the square), for about 40 seconds, until you see the white Apple logo.

Then let go, and allow the device a minute to reboot. It will then function as usual.

Try to connect it to your computer, and open iTunes.
Does iTunes recognize the device at all?
