Before we dive into this, can you provide that info as well.

Thanks,

hosting is ftp.avtarvizslas.com, the website is avatarvizslas.com does this help?

Expert:  Dustin replied 1 year ago.
You may be hosted on Yahoo domains, which is what Im trying to figure out, who is actually hosting the website and files.

Can you look at this page, and tell me if the data on this webpage, matches what your site should be

Thanks Jackie,

yes, that is correct, yahoo, sorry!

Not a problem Jackie, and noneed to apologize, Im here to help you and for now, were just in the information gathering stage, Im not the type to throw any solutions out there till I understand the issue completely, and can send a solution that has at least a reasonable chance of working!!

Ok, the issue is, apples Iweb, was not made to publish and upload directly to yahoo domains, so were going to have to do some manual uploading.

Lets look at the page below first.

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/smallbusiness/webhosting/thirdparty/thirdparty-15.html

Ok, on step 3, where it says to upload the index.html and the directory to your domain via FTP..

This is how we need to do the upload with Iweb

  • In the sidebar, click the site you want to publish
  • In the Site Publishing Settings window choose FTP Server from the Publish To menu.
  • Name the site (optional)
  • Provide a contact email address.
  • Server Address: ftp.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  • User name: Yahoo!XXX@XXXXXX.XXX (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name)
  • Password: YID Password
  • Protocol: FTP with TLS/SSL
  • Directory/ Path: Leave blank
  • Click Test Connection
  • Click Publish

If when you get to test connection, you run into any errors, Let me know exactly what errors you run into Jackie, and I will continue to assist you.

ok I'm trying but this isnot easy enough for me. How can I cancel yahoo acct & find another server domain (is that the right lingo?!) that I can just hit publish & go?

Expert:  Dustin replied 1 year ago.
You have a lot of simple Iweb, and mac friendly options.. And transferring the domain from yahoo over is also very simple, as people do this quite often.

The page below, is recent.. And shows a lot of domain hosting options, that are mac friendly, and even discusses prices..

http://www.macworld.com/article/1166270/switch_your_iweb_site_to_a_mac_friendly_web_host.html

With those domains, you should be able to just Iweb, publish and go. Without the fuss..
