I am Vinod. I will try my best to help you resolve this issue.

Yes, it is possible to transfer photos from the mac to the ipad. For that, we need the help of itunes.

Open itunes in the computer and connect the ipad to the computer. Now, your ipad name would be listed to the top right of the itunes (or to the left column depending on the version of itunes).

Click on the ipad name there and now, to the middle of the screen, you will find tabs such as summary, info, apps, music, photos etc.

Click on the photos tab there and select "sync photos from" and in the drop down box next to it, select the folder where your photos reside.

Now click on apply/sync at the bottom.
