in order for it to work with the new macs it must be formated

i am not sure if you can read that hard drive through a virtual pc

yes....the new operating systems only ready external hard drive that is not formated
so you will need to do a backup on the hard drive and format it ...that is the only way ...i have the same hard drive you have

you have to find someone with a pc...that hard drive will be read by a pc with no problm
