no, just the bar at the bottom of my screen displaying my options

Oh ok I know what you mean. You will like to hide the dock. To do this, Click on the apple logo in the upper left corner and choose Dock Check the Automatically hide dock check box

actually, the opposite. I'd like the dock back

Ha ha ok, Then uncheck the automatically hide dock buttton

Yes, when you uncheck automatically hide, your dock will appear again

1. Click on the apple logo in the upper left corner and choose Dock
2. Then Choose Dock Preferences
3. Towards the bottom uncheck "Automatically hide and show dock
