I have a CanoScan 8800F. Since I "upgraded" the OS on a MacBook

I have a CanoScan 8800F. Since I "upgraded" the OS on a MacBook Pro to 10.8.3, the scanner will not function. I installed MP Navigator EX Ver. 4.0.3 which is said to be compatible with the Mac OS 10.8. On attempting to open the new Navigator, I have a box that lists compatible scanners. The 8800 F is not on the list. The box says to upgrade the "driver" but does not explain where or how to do this.

Thank you for your response. I had tried installing a driver from a website mentioned on Mac users blog. The websites you found we're more specific. One explicitly specified my scanner model number in selecting the appropriate driver. Unfortunate it didn't fix the problem. After installing it, I get the same message when I try to open the Navigator program i.e. a list of compatible scanners that doesn't inside mine.
My next thought is "Should I downgrade to the old Mac OS?"Again thanks,

You're welcome. I'm sorry, were you able to download, then install the driver? Is there any error during installation?

Can you try the built-in Mac scan program, such as Image Capture? Please see below:

I'm sorry, did you see my last reply today? What happens when installing the driver? Have you tried Image Capture application or Preview application to scan yet? Does it work?

The driver and the navigator installer programs both reported "installation successful." Maybe so, but they still won't operate the scanner. I will attempt your other suggestion. I should mention again the scanner worked well with the old MAC OS
