Hi, I will assist,
Do you mean blocking the website or add-ons?
Try blocksite add-on/extension:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/blocksite/
I don't know what an "add-on" is. I mean the website called "cardsspidersolitaire.com"
download/install blocksite add-on/extension:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/blocksite/
then you can block any website you want in firefox
After installing Blocksite in Firefox, then go to preferences (or tools/options menu), then go to Add-ons, then go to Extensions, then click on Options at the Blocksite item, then you can add the cardsspidersolitaire.com website.
How is it going?
I downloaded blocksite, but I am still able to access the spider solitaire site I asked it to block. Now what?
Sorry, that's strange. Do you have the latest Firefox version? Do you see Block site in Extensions in Add-ons?
Also, did you close/re-open Firefox?
Also, make sure you have written the website correctly.
I closed and then reopened firefox. I can still bring it up. Not terribly sure I recorded the website correctly. It's http://www.cardgamespidersolitaire.com They show you an http://, and I added the rest.
You only need to add cardgamespidersolitaire.com
Also, in Blocksite, did you make sure the "Blacklist" radio button is ticked, as well as "Enable BlockSite," "Enable warning messages" and "Enable link removal."
Also, when you add a website in BlockSite, put the website cardgamespidersolitaire.com in the Location box (you do not need to put any description.)
Go back to Add-ons/Extensions, Blocksite to check
If it still does not work, another add-on you can try to block websites is FoxFilterhttps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxfilter/
It looks like you are away; I'm exiting the chat now, but you can always reply back to me via this web page to continue. Thank you,
Still no success. Foxfilter isn't good for my purposes. I don't have a problem with porno or other inappropriate content....it's just the stupid www.cardgamespidersolitaire.com that I want to blot out of my life!
I'm sorry, it's really strange. Do you have the latest Firefox version? Can you remove the Firefox application, then redownload/reinstall it, then try blocksite again ( I tested blocking cardgamespidersolitaire.com on my firefox and it worked)?http://www.firefox.com/Thank you
I did as you suggested: totally removed Firefox and then downloaded it again and added the add-on. Cardgamespidersolitaire.com is still going strong.
Yes. I did. Nothing works. I have the feeling that there must be something I'm doing wrong though, so I don't want to give you a negative report. Can I just not say anything?
Splendid. I'll be waiting.
Yes, I AM having trouble running the application. I use firefox.
I think I should be good to go now. I just uploaded java, at the screen's recommendation. I'm on safari now.
How do you define "newer"? My iMac is OSX 10.8.3. Is that newer or older?
