i cannot sync itunes with my ipod is not recognized

i cannot sync itunes with my ipod is not recognized by itunes. I have read that this is an issue with windows 8 os....though the fixes i've tried from the internet have not worked

Which ipod is it? ipod nano/touch/classic?

if it is the ipod nano, is it the touch screen version or the click wheel version?

Were you syncing the same ipod with a different computer before? (probably with a windows 7/xp/vista)?

Also, are you using the new interface of itunes for the first time?

was syncing same ipod to windows xp successfully..not so with windows 8


tried compatablity mode change to windows xp...didnt work

It could be an issue with Windows 8 operating system. For example, if you look at the system requirements for the ipod to work, it does not say Windows 8.

So Apple may still not have updated their devices to work with Windows 8.

So what we can do is only the basic troubleshooting steps. In itunes 11 or later, the ipod name would be listed to the top right corner of the itunes, if it is recognized.

So if it is not there, with the ipod connected to the computer, on the ipod, press and hold the power button and the home button together until you see an apple logo.

If that does not work, uninstall and reinstall itunes. Go to the control panel and uninstall itunes, quicktime, apple software update, apple mobile device support, apple application support and bonjour. Now, restart the computer and install itunes from
