I have updated software for outlook. Outlook wont open up

This answer was rated:

I have updated software for outlook. Outlook won't open up and the following prompt appears; "to open Outlook, first delete the daemon from the Start Up Items, then restart the computer. For more information, see Mac OS help."

Where do I find the Start Up Items?

Thank you.

Steve Herrod :

Hi, I'll be happy to help with this

Steve Herrod :

you can find either Startup or Login items here

Steve Herrod :

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.

  2. Choose Accounts from the View menu.

  3. Click the name of the user.

  4. Mac OS X 10.3.x: Click the Startup Items button.
Mac OS X 10.4 or later: Click the Login Items button

Steve Herrod :

once listed

Steve Herrod :

you should be able to select the Outlook daemon from the list and remove it

Steve Herrod :

and then restart the Mac and try Outlook again

Customer:

do you mean users and groups? I don't see 'Accounts' under system preferences.

Steve Herrod :

yes, it may differ slightly depending on what version of OSX you are using

Customer:

got it. The Microsoft Outlook Daemon was already unchecked.

Steve Herrod :

ok - has the Mac been restarted since Outlook was updated?

Customer:

no.

Steve Herrod :

ok, that may be the next step but was there anything else listed in Startup Items?

Customer:

iTunes Helper is checked. Dropbox is unchecked.

Steve Herrod :

ok, if you try restarting and then see if Outlook loads up

Customer:

ok. will do.

Steve Herrod :

it should resolve the issue as Outlook will be able to update that daemon when it is no longer running at startup

Steve Herrod :

Let me know how it goes

Steve Herrod :

Cheers

Customer:
