Hi, my name is David, and I will do whatever I possibly can to help answer your questions.

there are two options when connecting an external display, and at the moment it's set to extended Desktop.

The second screen doesn't have a Dock or menu bar.

Click the Apple menu, System Preferences, Displays, Layout.

From there you can change the placement of the icons, to be the same as the actual position of the displays.

If you want to see two Desktops instead of extended Desktop, tick 'Mirror Displays'

Let me know if this gives you any problems.
