I cannot send text messages through my iphone 5.

yes i am getting the red signs

I am not sure why you are unable to send to just him. But I highly doubt there is an issue on your end since you can successfully send to everyone els

Oh ok so it is not just him. To rule out software issues, you will need to restore your phone back to factory settings. Do you have a backup?

You can back it up to icloud. In settings, click on icloud

because last time the same thing happened to my windows phone. I could not access the app store because i updated the software to the latest version
