computer crashed with ipod plugged in now stuck on do not disconnect tried re starting with itunes program would not recognize ; tried holding down menu and center button same time no response please help

Let's try the reset again. might be the hold switch is frozen as well.

Let's toggle the hold switch at the top 3-4 times and place it in a position so that it is no longer on hold (that is the orange/red color is not visible next to the switch).

Now press and hold the menu and the center buttons together for 10-30 sec.

window would not finish starting with ipod plugged in had to unplug to get windows to start tries to automatically open itunes unsuccessfully have to unplug ipod and to start itunes doesnt recognize ipod

I am afraid it is totally frozen. Our next hope lies in letting the battery die by itself and then trying to recharge and reset.

If that too does not work, then it should be repaired/replaced...:(
