Thanks for choosing Justanswer, My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be assisting you today.

What type of files are you trying to transfer to your ipad?

Also what is your operating system that you are using?

Thank You, Dan
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

i-pad uses ios; PC uses windows XP MediaCenter.

I want to copy *.txt files primarily but also exe and odt among others.

If you want to put audio, images, video onto the iPad, iTunes will sync then there. If you want non-AV files, then their types and the presence of an appropriate app(s) to interpret them would be needed.

Does this answer your question.

Let me know.

Thank You, Dan

What are "appropriate app(s)" and how do I get them?

You would purchase the apps from the itunes store,

For the txt files you would need an app like WinZip.

For the odt files you can use app Open Reader.

As for the exe files, A .exe file is a Windows application. That file would not execute in iOS, OSX, Android or Linux. Softwares (apps) are built and compiled to run on a specific OS.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
