Ask Mac Questions and Get Answers from Experts ASAP
hi,did you know what extension is your backup file?exe, txt. rtf, img, zip ?????
sometime backup software used different file software to compress the file into smaller size
so there might not be a software that can read it
you if backup the file as drag and drop then is a lot easier.but if you used a specify software to backup your data to your backup hard drive, then only that specify software can read it
don't know other than word or pdf
to read pdf you need to download adobe reader --->>> http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGOfor word document, try download open office --->> http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/9602/openoffice/
.pdf on most , some are simple word for MAC but do not show the extension....there are dozens of them that I need to read from back up drive.....and all have the same answer
i have adobe reader updated let us try to get to the bottom of the pdf file issue first before i am downloading more stuff OK?
so what are the formats that they will will recognize and how do I use them ?
for pdf files, adobe reader should able to read itand for all simple work doc, either text edit on your computer or open office should able to read it
open office and adobe reader can be download from the link I gave earlier
I'll be on standby, please let me know if you have any more question. thank you
i am downloading adobe and it is taking forever then I will try opening files....but my question after I download adobe will it then appear in the prompt box with my optional formats....the ones I have all tried and have not work...I did not know adobe was a format per se. Please advise.
adobe reader was create only to read pdf file
after installed adobe reader, open finder, go to application folder, open adobe reader, on upper menu, click "file" ---->> "open"browse to your pdf file and open it
will give it a shot when down load is finished and it is taking forever
adobe reader is about 70mb file, so it depends on your internet speed
