Hi , is the ISP BT or virgin over a BT line?
1. Make sure you've enabled IMAP in your main Virgin Media Mail settings.

IMAP provides a better method to access your mail from multiple devices. If you check your email at work, on your mobile phone, and again at home, IMAP ensures that new mail is accessible from any device at any given time.
If your using POP , this could be the issue .
You can retrieve your Virgin Media Mail messages with a client or device that supports IMAP, like Microsoft Outlook or Windows Mail. To enable IMAP in your Virgin Media Mail account: Sign in to your Virgin Media Mail account.
1. Click Settings at the top of any Virgin Media Mail page. 2. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP. 3. Select Enable IMAP. 4. Configure your IMAP client and click Save Changes.
TRy settings :
Receiving mail (IMAP4)
IMAP4 server name
Enabled (or 'Password' on Macs)
Full e-mail address, e.g., [email protected]
IMAP4 SPA (Secure Password XXXXX)
Sending mail (SMTP)
SMTP server name
Delete your current setup account , and re-enter the above for your account .
Also Note :
Changing your password XXXXX My VM login . Change the password XXXXX comply with:
If sending mail is OK on your account , then the smtp details you used before are ok .
Note: Simply changing the email password XXXXX also help even if it already is within parameters.
If imap still does not work , try POP .
Receiving mail (POP3)
POP3 server name
POP3 SPA (Secure Password XXXXX)
Note once more If sending email works fine , those details dont need to be updated .
SMTP etc .
i.e SMTP may have used your ISPs email server , If that worked for you no need to change .
Note if using POP , make sure to check settings / Enabling IMAP / POP

My Virgin Media account is IMAP enabled
