Did you do it this way?

Force restore iPad
1. Hold down the home button and power button at the same time. This will force the screen to fade and the Apple Logo to reappear. KEEP holding the two buttons down until the iPad shuts off.

2. Once the iPad is off plug one end of the usb cable into the PC .

3. Open iTunes

3. While holding down the Home button plug the cable into the iPad.
Contunue holding the home button until the you the itunes logo and the picture of the cable on the iPad screen. This may take up to 30 seconds.

4. iTunes should now detect the iPad and you can perform a restore.

I tried it that way and it did not work. I get the tone but that is all. The cable pointing to the Itunes logo shows up and stays but is not detected.

Did I lose you or are you still there?

Do you have the latest version of iTunes?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I have 10.6.1

Are you sure you kept holding the Home button in step 3 as instructed?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I've held it for up to a minute. The apple appears initially followed by the cable pointing. I continue holding it for about 30 seconds after that appears.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

I just tried it again. I held the home button down for a minute after the cable pointing picture displayed, I received the audible tone but nothing else changed.

Try this I don't have a PC so you will have to follow the instructions:

The information you provided did not work. I was able to take it to the Apple store and pay them to actually fix it...
Expert:  Mike replied 5 years ago.
You had to pay? I assume it was out of warranty. Did they have to fix it physically? What did they do? Just curious I don‘ expect you to Accept here. Thanks.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
It is out of warranty. They ended up going through my computer and were able to get it come up with the restore button and were able to get it loaded after about 30 minutes. It was not physically broken...

OK but you don‘t knnow exactly what they did, I appreciate the info?
