I have had two issues with "OSX cannot repair the disc Seagate GoFlex drive". Its the second external hard drive (both Seagates) that this has happened. Any suggestions. I would like to know if this is an issue with my computer, or the Seagates, and if there is a more reliable solution for external hard drive backup.
Optional Information: Product: Macbook Software (if necessary): OS X Already Tried: Bought another GoFlex drive when I got the first message, now I have it a again after a few more months. Message says I can copy the data on the drive, but not write to the drive.

It was formatted initially for the Mac. The message pops up after several months of successful use.
Open Disk Utility select the drive and Verify Disk
Was Verify OK?
I used the disc utility and it says the disc needs to be repaired, but it is unable to repair it. It gives the direction to reformat the disc. I have tried copying the data on the drive to another drive, and was able to copy some files, but not all. Is there any way to salvage all the files? Why does this hapen in the first place? I am using this disc for Apple Logic recording file and those seem to be the ones causing the problem. Is it a problem with the initial formatting, the disk, or Logic? This is the 2nd Seagate HD that I've had an issue with.
If there are problems saving from the program or there are crashes, etc... that causes little errors that can build up you should run the Disk Utility every month or so or get a program that scans it for you like Drive Genius. You can try software like Disk Warrior to try and repair the drive which can many times repair a drive that Disk Utility cannot. Let me know.Remember, if for any reason you are unsatisfied with my answer, we can continue the conversation until you’re satisfied and Accept my answer. Does Drive Genius repair/recover files as well? Which do you recommend? Do they do different things?
I have had the best luck with Disk Warrior as far as Repair and Drive Genius has better easier to use monitoring so I think if you can only get one get Disk Warrior.Remember, if for any reason you are unsatisfied with my answer, we can continue the conversation until you’re satisfied and Accept my answer.
